“A man is never the same for long. He is continually changing. He seldom remains the same even for half an hour” —— Gurdjieff

Gurdjieff said, to paraphrase, that the first beginning of our work to becoming one, must be to see ourselves, truly see our condition, what we actually are. I must see my machine. To see the truth of my condition.
Is this possible for me to do or must I continue lying convinced that I can do?

For me, real seeing of my condition came with remarkable glimpses. This did not happen until after many years of searching. One day I came across a very remarkable man who had been with Madame De Salzmann in Paris for over 30 years. He is a very nondescript man who you would not look at twice if he passed you on the street. By accident and fantastic luck, a friend came upon a flyer for a lecture he was giving in a room at Carnegie Hall. We went there, I was not impressed, I went to a couple more meetings he held in the Village.

So, still not impressed I decided to give it a try. I joined his small group and soon became very interested in some of the experiences some of the people in the group were relating.

After a few meetings, I had a very intense experience of my own, a real and incredible glimpse of my real condition. This came accompanied with tremendous hope and gratefulness.

This was in 1995 and I have had many remarkable views of the real world since then.

Now I am starting my own group to share with others who might be open enough and wish enough for the work to enter them. ….. Bruce Arvon
